Well, here it is finally. My Prague 2005 master! After so long having it in my shelf I'm releasing it. Great show, and I had even more great time with my friends in Prague. Simply amazing city. First show of the tour, with some original settings that didn't last more than couple of shows. Charlotte the Harlot is here, first time ever live on stage with Bruce, Janick and Nicko! No intro tape for Where Eagles Dare yet. Also at this show there were some foxy devil costumed girls during 666 there... ;)
Anyways, enjoy this release!

From Nicko's diary:

We arrived into Prague at around 5 o’clock local and went straight to the hotel.
I had a wee rest before heading out to the gig at 7:30.
When we arrived at the venue you could feel the excitement and nerves from everyone, more so from me self. I was feeling great but had an awful case of nerves and of coarse Boomer was out in fine form.
Oh well better to have than have not AAAAHHHHEEEE!!!!!!!

I went up on stage to check me tubs out. Charlie had done a great job setting them up. Everything was where it was supposed to be.
Oh yes I have a new kit for the tour. It’s a beautiful Premier series set. Same sizes as all my other tubs but a special artwork on the shells.
You will see it when you come to a show won’t you boys and girls??????????

So 20 minuets before show time we’re all getting ready for the show. The vibe was great in the dressing room.
We all felt a wee bit of nerves but as I said before you have to have them or else you could easily lose your edge.
We hit the stage at 8:30 in front of a capacity crowd of 15.000 total Maiden fans. You guys were FANTASTIC I can tell you.
The gig went great, although I made a ‘Kin massive mistake right on the first song. ’Kin marvellous!!!! I went to come out of the second solo in ‘Murders’ a whole bar too soon and made the guys work to keep it together, but after that it all settled down and we blazed through the rest of the set with renewed passion.
It really was great to be back on stage with me mates, rocking with some of the best classic tunes from our past.
The set worked fairly well in its running order, but as usually is the case, we’re fine tuning that as we go. We find that we will have to change a song, or where it is in the set, just to make things flow a wee bit more.
Well, after the show we headed back to the hotel and then met in the bar. We all felt that the crowd made the night for us as we all had a few problems through the evening. Nothing to severe but just a wee bit below par so to speak. Well, it was our first gig!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to all you crazy Billies out there in Prague.
You made our night!!!!!!!!!!

This is the same recording as Poland 2005 above. This is a DVD rip done by the webmaster of the Site Of The Cross. The sound is pretty good but not too spectacular. 'Charlotte The Harlot' is cut and cuts right in into 'Run To The Hills'. Also, the beginning of 'Drifter' is missing. There's a short introduction to 'Where Eagles Dare' by Bruce where he says, "Broadsword calling Danny Boy", which is a sentence from the movie and this is where this bootleg takes its title from.

From Nicko's diary:

We played there last night [Katowice, Poland] and man was it fantastic. A brilliant evening was had and delivered.
We had made a change to the running order of the set but it still needs a wee tune up so to speak.
We hit the stage at 9:30 and had a great night. We played a lot tighter than the night before and were very happy with the way we all played.
The crowd were absolutely nuts. At one time towards the end of the evening they were chanting out something SSSOOO load, for so long that it sent a goose bump up me back.
We later found out that it meant THANK YOU!!!!!!
What a buzz I can tell you!!!!
27000 Polish fans singing with us and chanting things, it was truly a momentous evening.
After the show we went back to the hotel and met in the bar for a wee nightcap.
Dragonforce joined us; they had opened the show for us.
Nice bunch of chaps they are as well!!!
After a couple of glasses of Ducru I went to me bed.
Thank you to all of our friends in Poland for making us so welcome as usual. You are very special to Maiden.
THANK YOU ALL so much.

From Nicko's diary:

On Tuesday evening we played at the Stadthalle Graz to about 5000 billies. It was a great gig. We played very well, nice and tight. The set running order works great know. I doubt whether we shall change it again but you never know. We hit the stage at 9:15.
The crowd although not too big were very load.
I had a great time on stage again and I’m feeling a lot more confident with the set. I still managed to miss the intro to Prowler but I’m sure by the end of the tour I’ll get it. TEEHEE!!!!

From Nicko's diary:

Well, we have been over in Germany these last couple of days. We played the Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park over the weekend and ‘kin great it was as well.

On Saturday the 4th of June we boarded our plane to fly over to Cologne for the first of 2 shows.
We left London at 3pm and we arrived a little over one hour later. The drive to the site where the festival was being held took about 90 minutes.

After checking in I hit the sack for a wee siesta. We were due on stage at 10pm so I had a plenty of time to relax. I went over to the gig at 8:30 and boy was it cold outside. The temperature must have been at least five maybe six degrees centigrade with the wind chill. ‘Kin freezing it was. I have to say that the show that evening was the hardest gig to play in my entire career!!! I had a very hard job holding on to my sticks, my hands were so cold. Despite that though the gig was great.

I made a complete balls up of Prowler again. I’ll have to have words with the band about that AAAHHEEEE!!!!! But having said that we had a great show. The billies were fantastic I can tell you. 80,000 plus. Although the weather was bad it didn’t break the spirit of the event or the people. I was very happy with the way we played despite the cold. We all felt that it was difficult too perform in that kind of weather.

After the show I had a couple of glasses of lovely Ducru red wine. I shared a fine bottle with Ian and Doug Hall. We all felt the cold and were happy to be in the warm again. I really could not believe that the weather would be so cold for the first week of June. I got back to the hotel at around 2 in the morning and went to meet the guys in the bar. We had a chat and then I slid off too me room.

ROCK IM PARK

Centre Stage
Nuremberg – GERMANY
5th June 2005
From Nicko's diary:

The next day we had a short flight over to Nurnburg. It took a little over 30 minutes in the air. I had a rest and then made me way over to the gig for 6:30pm. I had a new bass drum and floor tom that had just arrived from London so I needed to check out the tubs before the show.
Stage time was set at 9:10. I had lots of time on my hands after checking everything out.

I went to catering and had a bowl of soup and ran into me old pal Mark Richardson from Feeder.
I didn’t realize that they were on the bill. It was great to see him, he’s such a great guy and a brilliant drummer.

The two festivals that we played are really wild. There are three or more stages at each of the events and there is always a live band playing at sometime or another. There are also so many different artists on the bill. Massive event and one of the best run anywhere.

We hit the stage at 9pm. It was an extra special day as it was my birthday. I tried to keep it low key as I knew something or the other would happen to me at sometime or another on stage, like a pieing or similar. Well, the gig went great, we played the best yet and I also got Prowler right and jolly good it was too. Towards the end of the main set Bruce told the audience that it was my birthday and in fine tradition I had 40,000 plus fans singing Happy Birthday to me. Brought a tear to me eye I can tell you. Thank you to all for making it such a memorable evening and a great birthday.

At the end of the show I came down front as usual and all of a sudden my belt was whipped away from me waist. Bruce had somehow managed to undo it and remove it in super quick time. So I got away from him and then Harry cornered me at the side of the stage. Bruce then pulled me skivvies down exposing me broach and earrings for all to see. I couldn’t believe it! I was standing there with me skivvies around me ankles with all me bits exposed in front of TV cameras and photographers and all the ‘Kin audience. I had to cover up me vanity I can tell you, well, it was a wee bit chilly out on front of stage.

After the show I stayed behind and had a chat and a glass of wine with me pal Danny 'no it’s a full crash' Zimmerman from Paiste cymbals and his mate Milan from Sonor drums. We talked for a while and then I said my farewells and then had Peter 'I’ll bite your head' Lokrantz give me a massage.
He worked on me back for about 30 minutes and then I showered, changed and headed back too the hotel.

When I arrived I hit the bar. All the guys except Davey were waiting for me along with Matteo and his wife, Amanda and Danny from EMI, ‘He’s a Geezer’ Gadd and Ian. We celebrated until the wee hours. I hit me sack at 6pm with a very good night under me belt.

Incomplete show (the encores are missing). There is an overbearing amount of loud pops throughout the show which sound like they are part of the original recording. They kind of sound like something keeps brushing up against the microphone. 'Phantom Of The Opera' has very slight cyclic interference. This poor quality of sound is most probably from the original recording, and not a burn error.

On Saturday last week we headed out to Bologna in Italy. We flew out of Stansted at 2pm and were at the hotel around 5pm. I had a rest and went down to the show at about 6:30 to watch Slayer. I meet me pals from Anthenora, they’re me Italian band that I use, when I do my drum shows there. They all showed up with their friends. We met up after the show and had a few libations and legs under the table at a very nice Irish pub.
The gig went great, we played a good one and we were all very pleased with the night. The entire band with the exception of Dave met at the Irish pub. All had a good night.

From Nicko's diary:

The next day we flew to Zurich, Switzerland. I always love to go to Switzerland. My cymbals are made there and it is a most beautiful place on earth. I went to the show early as I wanted to see ‘Within Temptation’ and me old mates ‘Dream Theater’.

Within were very good. First time I’ve seen them.
They finished and then Dream took the stage.
Brilliant as always. Mike P was fantastic as were all the guys.
Well, it was our turn to hit the stage. We were due on at 8:45pm. We all got in the van and had to drive through a wee village to get to the stage. Yes boys and girls, I did say village. The stage was a ‘kin heck of a long way from dressing rooms. It was a most weird set up. We got under way and had to drive around a small village. It took about five minutes to arrive back stage. When we got there we went straight on stage and jammed.
Well, it was one of THOSE ‘Kin nights I can tell you. On me snare drum I have a bungee chord that keeps the drum down on the riser so as to stop it sliding about. It has to be positioned just right of the leg of the snare drum stand. Well, Charlie had secured it on the opposite side and as I struck the drum it started to bounce out of position. ‘Kin marvellous.
So Charlie sorted that out and then it was on to ‘Where Eagles Dare’. Well, when I stood up on the intro tape, I must have inadvertently kicked my bass drum pedal, and in doing so I dislodged the chain from the sprocket that drives the beater onto the drum. Well, you can guess what happened next can’t you
Yes, I sat down to kick off the tune, (I start the tune off with a big drum intro) and WOW no bass drum. Of all the tunes for that to have happened, it had to be that one.
Very embarrassing I can tell you. Charlie sorted it out by re-applying the chain to its drive and then I was off and running.

After about two more tunes would you believe the ‘Kin stage lights went out.
Apparently, the generator had blown up so we were left in the dark, well almost. It was still a wee bit light as it was not quite dark as yet.
We played on with just a couple of spotlights that were still running. They sorted the genny out but when they turned it back on the power blew up the out front desk. I wonder who’s fault that was then?
So PK the LD had to run the show from the side of the stage. All in all a very entertaining evening.

Despite all that had happened it was a great gig.

We played to 22,000 billies and they all had a great time as well as we did.
After the show I stayed behind and had a wee glass of wine with me dear friend Ted Voellmy. Danny Zimmerman was also there with a couple of his mates. We had a drink with Stephan the drummer from 'Within' while Ted and I reminisced over our Paiste stories. Great company, great wine, and a great way to end a fine day.

I got back to the hotel and went for a nightcap at the hotel bar.I left for me bed and was tucked up by 2am.

The name of this bootleg comes from Manu Da Silva, owner of Eddie’s Bar in Portugal, and close friend of Steve Harris, who passed away at the beginning of the tour. Bruce dedicates 'Remember Tomorrow' and 'Running Free' to Manu. During 'Die With Your Boots On', Bruce tells the moshers to not hurt those who want to listen to the music. Essentially, he shows how much he hates moshers. During 'Phantom Of The Opera', Bruce calls out to a fan, "Are you watching the band or fucking wanking?" This was the very first recording done by Iron Pedro and he did a brilliant job in all aspects. This is a great recording, with just some fluctuations in the volume during 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'.

From Nicko's diary:

On Thursday the 16th we travelled over to Lisbon for a show at the Pavilhao Atlantico. We played to around 13,000 billies and we were on fire that night I can tell you. We hit the stage at 9:30pm and had a great gig. The crowd were fantastic.
When we got to ‘Remember Tomorrow’, Bruce had a word with the audience about our friend Manu. We dedicated this tune too him. It was a very emotional performance. I think also that it was the best we played this tune so far.
Love you Manu!!!!!!

After the show we went back to the hotel and met in the bar for a wee celebration. A few friends of Steve and Manu’s were there so I popped a bottle of champagne and we toasted to our pal.
We all had wonderful memories and stories of Manu.
What a great night.

We hit the stage at 10pm. Man it was a great gig. We played really well and all of us felt the same. ‘Kin fantastic it was I can tell you!!!
The show went without any major problems except I had to change my HiHat stand. The supporting arm from the footplate kept coming out of its retaining hole and the whole thing just didn’t feel right. That done, all went really well.
Thank you too all our fans at that show you were brilliant!!!!!

This is a decent recording made by Gui, from The Clansmen. There are however some little problems: at the beginning of the show, the sound is terrible and the crowd noise is really loud, but this change quickly in the middle of 'Murders In The Rue Morgue', and there is also a very high volume in some parts of 'Iron Maiden'. Apart from that, this is a good show to have from this tour.

From Nicko's diary:

We played the Grasspop festival on the Sunday night. It was a beautiful evening. When we arrived I popped into see Ronnie James Dio and his band. They had their dressing rooms right next to ours. I had a nice chat with him and his ex-misses Wendy. I love this man he is always very nice to me and we have a great time together. After that I went up on stage and ran into Simon Wright and me old pal Rudi Sarzo. We had a wee chat and then I saw me mate from Florida, Pat Johannson. He plays drums for Yngwie. Then I ran into another mate Mike Terrano.
We all had a chat and a laugh and then I watched the last part of Dream's set. This was the last gig that we would be playing together on this tour. They sounded great as usual.
This time Mike P threw a stick at me, which I managed to catch, and I tossed it back to him and he caught it. Well done that man. What a great drummer he is. Didn’t miss a beat. We managed to see each other and John P, before Maiden went on stage and had a chance to say our farewells.

Well, it was that time. We got up on stage at a little after 10pm and man what a gig. I was, as you can imagine, not feeling 100% but I got into it and had a fine gig. I did however play a couple of songs a wee bit on the fast side but all in all it went very well. That will teach me, wont it boys and girls.

This recording is almost flawless and free of technical problems. There are some minor glitches: the sound is suddenly cut off from one speaker for a second during 'Where Eagles Dare', and something similar happens during 'Die With Your Boots On' when the volume goes down for just a second. The sound is also a little bit hollow, like in an open air show, but it is a great recording in general.

From Nicko's diary:

OK, on Tuesday we had the first of two shows in Oslo. We left from London at 2pm and were in Oslo for 5pm. We went to the show at 7:30pm when I arrived I popped up and checked me tubs and had a wee chat with the boys from ‘Mastadon’. Nice bunch of guys.

After their set it was time for us to hit the stage. Well, the place went crazy when we started. Absolutely brilliant I can tell you. There were a lot of younger fans at the first show and it was nice to see so many young fans into Iron Maiden. God bless you all.

We played a blinder that night and we all felt really good. After the show we met with, ‘Pele’, our EMI guy. He graciously took care of the bar bill that evening Bless ‘im. I went back to the hotel at a reasonable time and watched a spot of the old TV and then turned out me lights at around 3am.

We hit the stage at the same time as the day before and we were on fire again. The crowd went potty and we really had a great time on stage. Nothing went wrong and we all said that we enjoyed the two shows equally. After the gig we headed straight to the airport and boarded the jet. We left a little after 12am and were on the ground in London for just before 2am. I made me way home and was in me shower by 3. Went to me pit and had a great sleep.

From Nicko's diary:

On Saturday the 2nd we boarded the jet and flew over to Leipzig Germany. We were playing the Full Force Festival. When we arrived we had a wee drive to the hotel. We were there in just under 45 minutes. I had a wee rest and then made me way to the show. When I arrived I checked me tubs as usual and then went and got ready for the show. We had a great night. Band was playing great and nothing went wrong on stage. The audience were fantastic. You guys have been giving us soooooo much. Thank you all from the bottom of me heart...

Taped by ProgTrol, this bootleg also includes the complete Porcupine Tree show.
Porcupine Tree headlined the tent at the bospopfestival and their set ended just when Iron Maiden started their set at the mainstage, hence the reason why the introtape (The Ides Of March) wasn't recorded. You can actually hear me leaving the tent and heading for the mainstage while my recorder was still on. (Progtrol)

From Nicko's diary:

We were playing the Bospop festival in Weert Holland. After the short flight we had an hour drive from Liege airport to the site. We were due on stage at 10:15pm.

Well, what a night. All kinds of stuff went wrong I can tell you. The ‘Kin sub woofers were on the stage so consequently the whole ‘Kin stage became bottom end heavy. I had the worst on stage monitor sound thus far. It was very difficult to hear everything and at one time in Prowler I completely lost the plot. Well, we got away with what could have been a very nasty train wreck.
After a couple more tunes things settled down very nicely.
We all had sound problems but, hey these things happen sometimes. That’s what playing live is all about. You never quite know what you’re going to get on any given stage. Lovely. It keeps you on ya toes.

The rest of the show was fantastic, although the audience were a little quiet. I think it must have been a long day for them. Oh yes Y&T were on stage when I arrived at the site so I checked them out. Leonard Hayes was awesome. What a great drummer he is. Man after me own heart, Single bass pedal and a wicked right foot. They were really great.

After the show we drove the hour back to the airport. We flew back home and had a nice couple of days off in London.

From Nicko's diary:

We were in Helsinki on the Wednesday 6th July. We flew out from Stansted at noon and went straight to the hotel. We were at the venue for 7:30 and I did me usual checking of me tubs and went and had an ear’ole of Mastodon. Good bunch of guys.

We hit the stage at 9:15pm and WOW what an audience. Absolutely nuts I can tell you. At one stage of the evening they just sang to us and screamed for what seemed to be an eternity, it did bring a tear to me peepers I can tell you.
Well, the gig went great. The boys were definitely on fire and we all had a blast on stage. After the show we all said that we really enjoyed the reaction. We headed back to the hotel and had a wee nightcap.

From Nicko's diary:

Well, today’s the day of our show in Gothenburg.
The buzz in the city is wild. Sula and I head out for lunch at around 1pm and man there are so many fans everywhere. Great vibe.
Sula and I have a great lunch and then we head back to the hotel. I have a wee siesta and am up and ready to leave the hotel 7:30pm.
We make our way to the venue and get ready for our show. It’s being beamed out live on SW2 one of the Swedish networks. Estimated that 20.000.000 people will see our show. Also it was going out on live radio.
No pressure there then!!!!

We hit the stage at 9:15pm and man did we have a ‘Kin great show. We played so well and had the best time up there I can tell you. It seemed that the show flew by really quick. We were at the end of the show and this leg of the tour. What a great time I have had on this one.
Everywhere has been very special to me. But I would have to say that this was the icing on the cake me old chinas. A most fitting end to a most wonderful tour.

Recorded by Patrick M.: Taped from dead center on the lawn. If i remember right I was standing in a no-alcohol section which was right in front of two PA speakers connected to the amphitheater. The tracking is probably off but I really don't know Iron Maiden at all so I split it to the best of my abilities. Enjoy.
Bruce calls the fans a bunch of pussies for not screaming loud enough during 'Phantom Of The Opera'. During 'Running Free', Bruce rants about corporate America. Bruce introduces 'Drifter' instead of 'Sanctuary'.

Ryan's account:
RYA05. I WAS THERE! Maiden seemed really energized this show. I don't know what it is, but I think the shorter setlist isn't wearing them down as much as the normal 90 minutes to two hours they do. Bruce was really excited, too, to see a pit in front of him without seats (he's complained publicly that assigned seating ruins the vibe of a show). I was openly filming the show in front of security when a security supervisor came to me during 'Run To The Hills' and told me to shut off my camera. After he left, I turned it back on and continued filming, so 'Run To The Hills' is missing about a minute in the middle. This is an audio rip of the DVD, pulled by my friend Tredz and remastered. Despite his best efforts, it still comes off incredibly bassy.

This is the infamous show during which Sharon Osbourne, wife and manager of Ozzy, coordinated a retaliatory egging against Iron Maiden by her daughter Kelly, some Ozzfest roadies, and other so-called fans of the Osbourne camp, all because of Bruce's rude comments about reality shows (like, of course, The Osbournes) throughout the tour. Although there is only one recording of this show (plus a remastered version), many different covers can be found with titles relating to the event.
